What better way to top off our work with Southern Prairie Railway for the year then an all day train ride. We have had an amazing year photographing for the SPR and we were sad that the year was coming to an end but happy that we could have one final ride before winter came.
This all day train had limited space as they served meals, snacks and had live entertainment. With limited people it gave me a chance to really get to know the passengers, hear there stories, talk to them about the experience and best of all have a great time with them. The crowd on this train was unlike any other. With a rider game going on we had someone always keeping score and people would cheer. There is something very unique about spending the day on the rails, you get to see the province from a perspective you don't often see. The wildlife is much closer, you get to see coulees that you cannot see from the road and watching the sunset from the rails is not comparable.
On the way back, when people usually start to settle down and become quieter this crowd did the opposite. They got much louder and in fact they started to dance, sing and cheer. Everyone got into it, including the staff. Those who were not to energetic got to cuddle up and watch the sunset from the train. It was an experience for everyone.
Thank you SPR for letting us be a part of this even. We have enjoyed photographing for you and can't wait to see you next year!
